About the Organisation
Formally registered in 2015 under the Maharashtra Public Trusts Act, 1950, Canine Control and Care (CCC) was founded with a clear mission: to implement humane, scientifically proven methods for stray dog population management. Drawing inspiration from successful Animal Birth Control (ABC) programmes around the world, CCC began its work in Pune, where stray dogs often faced neglect, disease, and conflict with communities.
Over the years, CCC has emerged as a key organisation in urban animal welfare, combining field operations with community outreach to create safer, healthier environments for both animals and people.

ABC initiative with Bajaj Auto
Through a systematic Animal Birth Control (ABC) initiative, Bajaj Auto, in collaboration with Canine Control and Care (CCC), supports the neutering and vaccinating of stray dogs to control the stray population and improve animal health and safety. This initiative reflects Bajaj Auto’s commitment to compassionate, responsible community care by promoting humane intervention, rabies prevention, and long-term welfare for animals in our surroundings.
Through its ABC programme, CCC has sterilised over 1,00,000 stray dogs, contributing to a 42.87% decrease in the stray dog population in its operational areas. CCC continues to enhance the lives of stray dogs through humane and scientifically guided strategies, supported by a committed team of over 60 members and more than 600 volunteers.

Stray Animal Safety at Pune Grand Tour 2026
During the Bajaj Pune Grand Tour 2025, a dedicated stray animal safety initiative was implemented along the event routes in collaboration with Canine Control & Care (CCC) and the Blue Cross Society (BCS), with support from the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC).
The initiative focused on monitoring key cycling stretches, enhancing animal safety in high‑traffic zones, and keeping lanes clear, helping ensure a smooth and secure experience for both cyclists and spectators while safeguarding animals on the streets.
Celebrating 10 Years of CCC
Canine Control & Care (CCC) recently celebrated a decade of compassion and dedicated service to stray animals. Over these ten years, CCC has been recognised by the Animal Welfare Board of India for its Animal Birth Control (ABC) programme, reflecting its commitment to humane, evidence-based animal welfare.
