About WARDHA - A SANCTUARY OF HOPE & CHANGE
Wardha, in the heart of India, is 75 km from Nagpur and 780 km from Mumbai. The district is bounded by the Satpura mountain range in the North and by the valley of the Purna river in the West. It was also home to Jamnalal Bajaj and top political leaders including Mahatma Gandhi. Wardha has been a witness to many events of constructive, social, national and historical significance.
HISTORIC LEGACY
Mahatma Gandhi came to Wardha as per Shri Jamanalal Bajaj's invitation, choosing Sevagram for the freedom movement. Wardha gained historical importance and housed the All India Village Industries Association. Acharya Vinoba Bhave's earlier Satyagraha Ashram setup in the 1920s and Shri Jamnalal Bajaj's dedicated participation enhanced Wardha's role in India's freedom initiatives.
