THE BIRTH OF A LEGACY


1889

Jamnalal Bajaj was born on November 4 in Kashi-ka-bas, Rajasthan

1902

Jankidevi Bajaj was married to Jamnalal Bajaj at a very young age & lived a life of purpose for the betterment of the people

1921

With his increasing involvement in the freedom movement, Jamnalal Bajaj surrendered his title of Rai Bahadurship

1923

Jamnalal Bajaj became the chairman of All India Khaddar Board to organise and carry on Khadi work throughout the country

1930

Jankidevi Bajaj along with Jamnalal Bajaj, Kasturba Gandhi camped at the Vile Parle to break the Salt Satyagraha and she continued addressing crowd to break the salt laws, encouraging people to wear Khadi, boycott of foreign goods, picketing liquor shops in a tour of Bengal and Bihar.

Gandhiji shifted his headquarters permanently to Sewagram, a village near Wardha where Jamnalalji owned majority of the land

Kamalnayan Bajaj became the Director of Mukand Iron and Steel

1941

Ramkrishna Bajaj Participated in the Individual Satyagraha

1956

Jankidevi Bajaj was awarded Padma Vibhushan by the then president of India, Dr. Rajendra Prasad

1957

Kamalnayan Bajaj was elected from Wardha to Lok Sabha

1959

Bajaj Auto obtained a license from the Government of India to manufacture two-wheelers and three-wheelers and obtained a licence from Piaggio to manufacture Vespa scooters in India.

1966

Ramkrishna Bajaj established the Council for Fair Business Practices (formerly known as Fair Trade Practices Association)

1977

Established the Jamnalal Bajaj Foundation and its scheme of Awards felicitating men and women involved at grassroots level and committed to inclusive development working in line with Gandhiji’s constructive work program.

1979

Rahul Bajaj became the President of Confederation of Indian Industry

1984

Ramkrishna Bajaj became the President of Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry

2001

Rahul Bajaj won Padma Bhushan
